J. Robert Baker is a Lyrical Baritone who has had a long term professional career singing songs from Broadway Musicals, the Pop Standards, the Classics, and Light Opera. He has performed ON and Off B' Way, and with the New York City Opera Co. Bob has also performed with theater productions in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland Los Angeles, the Poconos, Denver, and Toronto, as well as in a number of Hotel and Night Club Revues as a featured singer.
He now resides in Milwaukee, WI and over a span of years has performed with many of the musical theater groups here; including: Skylight Opera, Milwaukee Opera, Florentine Opera, Great Lakes Opera, and Circle Stage Theater.
This CD album "Remember ..Songs of Love and Romance" is his first venture in creating a CD for commercial release. He chose to record love songs and ballads from the '30's, 40's and 50's since his audiences have always shown a great appreciation for these melodic valentines from a golden age of popular song writers. i.e. Gershwin, Rogers &Hart/ Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, etc.
Bob's piano accompanist ( and also recording technician) is Stephen M. Teicher who holds a B.F.A Degree in Music Performance from UWM in Milwaukee, and has extensive experience as a pianist/accompanist for soloists.
A final note: The recording took place using the grand piano and the acoustical spaciousness of a church as our recording studio.
