Details:
Considered a "documentary band" or a "rock'n roll repertory orchestra" rather than simply a cover band, The Johnson Brothers specialize in performing meticulously reproduced renditions of challenging large-band material rarely heard in local clubs.

Over the past 10 years, the band performed as the onstage orchestra for the University of Kentucky Theater Department's production of "The Who's Tommy," and performed every molecule of The Beatles', "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band."

In addition to a growing list of original compositions, the repertoire includes work by The Allman Bros., Eagles, Jethro Tull, Elton John, Steely Dan, Derek and the Dominoes, The Dixie Dregs, The Beatles, Little Feat, Stevie Wonder and Bruce Hornsby. Stunt numbers of particular note include The Beatles' impossible "I am the Walrus," "Strawberry Fields" and side two of "Abbey Road."

The band continues to evolve by venturing into the realm of original Johnson music with "Tastes Like Chicken." A powerful combination of funk, rock, jazz, blues and latin grooves.

The Jbros are constantly looking for the "next big challenge". Having already done "Tommy" and "Pepper" the opportunity arose to stretch so we jumped at it. In July '04, the band was invited to act as the pit orchestra for the local "Shakespeare in the park" production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The response was tremendous. We had no idea! http://www.lexingtonshakespeare.org/season.asp

Two months later in September '04 the band played the reception for "The Making of the Greatest Album of All Time: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" at the Idea Festival in Lexington, Ky., featuring Sir George Martin!
