joey made his first records and wrote his first songs in 1955 with his band the jay rockaers and then the rockabillies....every year since then he has written,recorded and released new music and is one of the few artists in the world to accomplish that feat.
even while playing piano with bill haleys comets and link wray in the 60s,he still released his own music.he has recorded over 1400 songs and written over 1000 of them.in 2005 he was inducted into the rockabilly hall of fame with charlie rich,the jordanaires and bill black.rolling stone named him in the top ioo most important rock and roll artists for the past 50 years as joey welz celebrated his 50th anniversary on canadian american records,the label he had his biggest hit on in 1964...hey ittle moonbeam..
