Jolliffe wrote The Bruton Suite while living alone in a church in Bruton. The Bruton Suite is comprised of original classical themes, all composed and performed by Steve Jolliffe, with string arrangements by Jonathan Palmer.
Steve Jolliffe has been a composer/performer for more than 40 years. In 1968 Jolliffe was the first student ever accepted to the Berlin Konservatorium who did not read music.
Jolliffe and Rick Davies played together in the 60's in a band called the Joint, which later evolved into Supertramp. During the 70's Jolliffe was a member of the blues/rock band Steamhammer and was one of the early members of the renowned synth electronic group Tangerine Dream.
Steve Jolliffe's solo career as an Independent has enabled him to explore many different musical directions including traditional electronic, ambient/trance and classical. Steve's beautifully layered keyboard arrangements are enhanced by his weaving of flute, clarinet, saxophone, and coranglais, all played by Jolliffe.
Jolliffe has recorded more than 18 solo albums. Steve's ambient/trance CD 'Zanzi' was chosen by the national syndicated radio program 'Musical Starstreams' as one of its Top Ten Albums of 1996. Many of Jolliffe's compositions can be found on musical library recordings, and Jolliffe has also composed for film and television. The music from his 1999 recording 'Deep Down Far' has been used as an advertisement for the Discovery Channel.
