Details:
John Vernons musical career started at the age of 3 on the accordion. By the age of six he was playing trombone and accordion, and in a year at the early age of seven was already performing on stage. While in high school he auditioned for Marshall Browns Youth Jazz Band which consisted of the best high school and college students of the east coast. After working with Marshall Brown for two years doing the Newport Jazz festivals, recordings and concerts, he went on tour with such greats as Les Elgart, Sammy Kaye, Jimmy Dorsey, etc. By the age of 21 he started his own 17 piece big band. After working several years to promote his big band to know avail, [since the timing was bad for big bands] he went back to work for other band leaders. Moving to Las Vegas he went to work playing for such names as, Sonny &Cher, Steve & Edie, Myron Cohen, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett, & the late Harry James big band with Phil Harris & Frank Sinatra Jr.

He then moved back to New York where he started another big band ( The Horns Of Manhattan ) with the great Gene Rowland. After several years of trying to promote the Vernon - Rowland Horns Of Manhattan Big Band they decided to call it quites. Moving to Arizona in 1989 he has been doing arranging, composing & has started a recording studio.
