Gay pop superstar, TV personality and nightlife legend, The Gay Pimp Jonny McGovern blazed onto the New York scene in 2000 with his satirical mix of his character comedy and dirty gay hits and his fire continues to burn bright.


His debut album DIRTY GAY HITS. In collaboration with IDM producer, Secret Agent Gel, Jonny crafted a collection of Hilarious, shameful, Gay themed songs such as "Soccer Practice", Lookinâ Cute/Feelinâ Cuteâ and Hey Lil' Raver Boi" for the character of "Gay Pimp" a pop star/superhero looking out for his "lil' gay babies" and turning str8 boys gay. In doing this he created a dirty gay teen pop style nightclub act with a bevy of Soccer and Raver Boi dancers, a gay rapper and fierce drag queens working tha' runway. Jonny headlined all around NYC including HOMOCORPS at the legendary CBGB's, Joe's Pub, Splash, LUXX and opened for Peaches and Chicks on Speed as well as at his own white hot NYC parties such as Boys Gone Wild and The Rambles at The Park.

The Gay Pimp became an Internet and international phenomenon. Teaming up with Broadway veteran Richard Jay Alexander (Les Miz, Bette Midlerâs Kiss My Brass tour) and Director Peter Martinez, Jonny created a video for Soccer Practice which debuted in the top five of the national video club play chart and was downloaded over 500,000 times on the internet and well as getting play on MTV Europe and MTV Asia. Jonny also toured nightclubs around the country as Gay Pimp and headlined the legendary Carolineâs On Broadway in his own stand-up comedy/music/variety show, âYou Go, Gay â.

Jonny broke into TV with several high profile gigs. Comedy Centralâs âOut On The Edge,â hosted by Alan Cumming brought Jonnyâs Gay Pimp revue to a national TV audience, he highlighted his comedy and solidified his status as a ghetto superstar with a year long stint as a co-host on âThe Ricki Lake Showâ and began a long string of appearances on VH-1, first being profiled on âTotally Gayerâ and then starring on âMy Coolest Yearsâ. Jonny also released another smash music video âLookinâ Cute/Feelinâ Cuteâ and toured Japan. Jonny conquered another format with his weekly podcast âGay Pimpinâ with Jonny McGovern reaching over 10,000 listeners a week (available on itunes & gaypimp.com)

As he finishes his new CD â Gays Gone Wild â for a 2006 release he is also filming the a new comedy/variety show âThe Big Gay Showâ produced by Rosie OâDonnell for LOGO as well as producing new artists including the tranny rap supergroup LaâMady, Ball queen MECCA, Peppermint Gummi Bear and Tranzcore Rocker Linda James and his new super group TEAM PIMP.
