âI love to perform and I have a passion for writing songs about the everyday situations teenagers are faced with,â says fifteen year old Joy Lippard.
As a preschooler she participated in theatrical productions, has taken lead roles in school musicals and at the young age of eleven began writing and recording songs, releasing her first demo album, TAKE MY PLACE, in 2003.
Since then, Joy has taken her calling to the next level. She juggles a hectic schedule between piano, guitar, voice and music theory lessons all on top of school. Her new CD, OUTSIDE AND IN released in August (along side her concert debut) has a professional âradio qualityâ sound that captures a sense of maturity and peaks the listenerâs interest, with her vocal performance and songwriting skills. The first track BE YOURSELF sets the overall tone for the record, revolving around themes of peer pressure, purity and finding satisfaction. âMy prayer is that I will be a positive, Christian role model and hopefully make a difference in the way people view certain subjects,â says the young pop/rock artist.
Joy has already had high profile opportunities to share her music and shine her light. In December 2004 she was flown to Los Angeles to be on the nationally syndicated program, Americaâs Most Talented Kidâs, where she performed an acoustic version of PERFECT LIFE, one of the eight songs on her new album. Another quick-start accomplishment; PERFECT LIFE was awarded one of the 11 finalists out of 180 entries for GOD-SONG writing contest. Joy performed at the conference and her ranking song was on the 2005 God-Song Album. Although Joy enjoys solo acts, she says, âI love playing with a live band; I can really get into the music and feel the words,â as she did at the Manassas Virginia Christian gathering SHOUTFest 05, hosting artists Jars of Clay, ZOEgirl and Krystal Meyers.
BE YOURSELF was the politically correct selection Joy sang at her public school before a gym full of students and parents at the end of the year Awards Assembly. âShe has a unique ability to address the issues young people around her struggle with. She does it from a Biblical perspective, but it doesnât sound preachyâ, says producer and former Circadian Rhythm guitarist, Paul Barber. Joyâs songwriting skills range from teen messages, BE YOURSELF, PERFECT LIFE and I'M WAITING, to Christ centered songs, LOVE SO AMAZING and a love song, SOMETHIN'BOUT YOU. Lippard can work an adult audience as well as the youth playing her well-versed song, BEAUTIFUL, OUTSIDE AND IN on piano. HOLD ON one of the power hits on the album, says, âIâm gonna be strong, Iâm gonna be tough,
I wonât back down when Iâve had enough, I will hold on to You.â Her new CD release ends with the dynamic track, LOVE SO AMAZING thanking Jesus for his ultimate sacrifice of dying on the cross. Joy Lippard, driven by her desire to tell others of the Good News and of the individuality they will find through having a relationship with Jesus Christ offers a trendy package that appeals to her generation.
