Jackie Curtis, who "thought he was James Dean there for a day" in Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side, here sings four jazz ballads by Paul Serrato. Recorded in 1968 with piano only accompaniment.

4 MP3 Songs
EASY LISTENING: Musicals/Broadway, EASY LISTENING: Crooners/Vocals

Details:
On this 1968 piano and voice recording session, you'll hear a sweet, yet worldly vocal performance of four songs composed for Jackie Curtis by Paul Serrato. Jackie was an actor, poet, playwright and transformed himself into one of the early, notable pioneers of gender bending performance art. (See Lou Reed's TRANSFORMER). He was also an ardent fan of the jazz ballad, displaying a talent for it heard on this session.
This session catches Jackie in a quartet of romantic songs just before he was to transform himself into one of Andy
Warhol's most unique film superstars.

Jackie is the subject of a new film documentary, "Superstar in a Housedress: The life and legend of Jackie Curtis", described by The New York Times as "bright and entertaining". The songs on this cd are on the soundtrack.

This new, digital recording is a unique contribution to the growing interest in the creative personalities of the counterculture period of the '60s.
