Iâm Jayne Anastacio, a performing song writer from Vancouver, BC, Canada. I sing because I am in love with creating and sharing my gifts. Performing compels me to BE in the momentâ¦my favourite place to be!
âSuperwoman is Jayneâs latest album. The songs in this pop album reflects Jayneâs personal life, and her influences. Musically she grew up listening to her mom and dadâs music: Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, Julie Andrews and Barbara Streisand just to name a few. In her own era, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Gloria Estefan, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner got the fire in her belly stoked. âThe liâl one with the big voice,â was a âbelterâ. Through experience with many different bands, and playing countless venues, Jayneâs performance and vocal ability evolved. She expresses herself authentically with a new-found balance between bursts of bitter-sweet cries behind her voice and whispery tenderness. Adding jazz to her repertoire has helped her discover that beautiful mix in her tones. Stewart Derdeyn a music reviewer for the Province News Group describes Jayneâs voice as âsoulfulâ, and describes her album as a work of a professional.
Here Are Some of Jayneâs Accomplishments:
âDuetsâ- landed a principle role as a karaoke singing contestant in this film starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis. It was so much fun working with my colleague and acquaintance, Michael Buble for three long days! (1999)
âMissinâ- a BMG released song I performed from the sound track of the movie âLONG SHOTâ, a star-studded film. The movie didnât do that great box office-wise, but it was cool hearing myself singing in the background of the best part of the movie! (2000)
LTTA- Learning Through the Arts, an international program funded by the Royal Conservatory of Music. As a singer/songwriter, I team up with public school teachers to enhance the studentsâ learning of a curriculum. (2000-currently)
Sassabrass Band- Horn player, Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, one of Vancouverâs top talent, handpicked Jayne to be part of his roster of prolific artists. (2001-currently)
Producer/Songwriter- Jayne co-produced both her albums âIâm On A Roleâ and âSuperwomanâ. She also produced both CD release shows. The âSuperwomanâ CD release show at the Michael J. Fox Theatre was topped with a well deserved-standing ovation! (2005)
BGâs for the Diva2Diva Tour- Jayne was chosen to sing back-up for Filipina legendary singer/actress, Kuh Ledesma, and superstar, Zsa-Zsa Padilla at the Queen Elizabeth
Theatre and Winnepegâs Pantelage Playhouse. (Oct. 2005)
As a freelance artist, Anastacio continues to create a âbuzzâ and a following while performing regulary at the Also Lounge in the heart of Richmond, Wednesdays through Saturdays; and with the Jet Set Band at various venues throughout the Lower Mainland. âI sing with my body and soulâ¦this is all I can give in the momentâ - Jayne Anastacio
