ROCK: Acoustic, ROCK: Roots Rock
Details:
UK ARRIVAL: New Zealand singer songwriter Jayson Norris landed on UK shores just two years ago to set up his own record label and to make his mark on the UK music scene.
SO FAR: Since his arrival to the UK, he has successfully started his own label Rangiputa Records; composed, produced, designed and marketed his debut album âA Basket Fullâ; been booked for two UK summer 06 festivals; built up a cult following in London with sell out gigs; been heralded as the new Jack Johnson by critics; voted best newcomer by Matchbox Radio24; featured on compilation CD âPlaytimeâ (Matchbox Recordings) and; built up a loyal international fan base through Emarketing on his site www.jaysonnorris.com and via internet sites including www.myspace.com/jaysonnorris.
A NICHE: Jayson Norris offers a laid back contrast to the new wave of Brit Pop and Indie Rock sounds. Selecting Cool Britannia as a base for the next step of the journey was the logical choice. Already a success in his homeland of NZ with national radio and TV performances and successful EP sales, London was chosen to set up Rangiputa Records and release debut album âA Basket Fullâ for its musical contrast to his own sound as much as for its musical heritage.
THE SOUND: Combining his rich, earthy voice with a blend of soulful acoustic styles, Jayson Norris offers laid back, funk-inflected Ben Harper, Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley inspired music. Jaysonâs cultural and musical Maori heritage is subtly reflected with rootsy, South-Pacific sounds resonating throughout his songs.
DEBUT ALBUM LAUNCH: Out 28 April 2006, âA Basket Fullâ is set to become this summerâs must-have, feel good album â a beach party, barbeque and gastro beer garden essential item. Launch party 18 May at The Neighbourhood, 12 Acklam Road, Ladbroke Grove, W10, London. Door £5.
SINGLES: Download only single âTruthâ is out now and is receiving airplay in the UK, New Zealand and Italy. Second single âWindowâ will be released 1 June 2006.
A DOWNLOAD MUST: âTruthâ, âSuperheroâ, âWindowâ and âBrighter Than the Sunâ

âJayson Norris's music is a lesson in how to make one acoustic guitar sound like five, his songs are full of energetic guitar mixed with a voice that an angel would happily sue you for. Really well written songs performed with gustoâ Shaun Litton - Up All Night Music.
âThis man writes songs that stick in your head when you brush your teeth, have your lunch, have a snack, and go to bed at nightâ¦. brilliant....â Dave Chislett, Music Journalist.
AN INSIGHT:
