Janet Swain is a singer songwriter with a country and urban twist! Her songs tell stories that are both soulful and thought provoking, as well as passionate and full of life. A folk/funk meditation on the human condition, Janet's love of life and her insatiable curiosity are obvious in this debut album.

Janet's performance style is both elegant and earthy, and her songs are full of beautiful melodies and unusual instrumentation, including turkish woodwind, celtic flutes and West African drumming. Special guest Moussa Diakite, who played for many years with Salif Keita , adds gorgeous electric guitar to the final song on the album, Heavy Head.

Many of the songs follow a folk structure with pop/R&B instrumentation. Sampled live a cappella singing, a variety of textures and lush vocal arrangements, from creamy chords to stroppy octaves and yodelling solo lines float behind the lead vocal. Janet's singing is effortless and assured, she is at ease with her voice and loving it!

The Australian landscape, from rolling hills to sparse dry desert country, is an inspiration for many of the songs.
