12 MP3 Songs
GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel, JAZZ: Smooth Jazz
Details:
Jaret Williams â J.Landon â, writer/arranger of gospel, jazz, and classical music, also a graduate from Harrison Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, will be embarking on a journey that promises to bring success. He first began performing at the age of five when he was asked to sing for his preschool teacherâs 20âth wedding anniversary. After this âdebutâ performance, Williams transformed into a musical machine. He would sing and dance to every genre of music Miami had to offer. During his elementary education, Williams was featured as the lead soloist for the âGround Breaking â Ceremony for the New Auditorium placed on the elementary school ground. His audience included the commissioner, mayor, and school superintendent of the Miami-Dade county area. Fueled from the performance, his interest in music increased and with the help of his grandmother, Williams learned the basics of playing the piano. While in the fifth grade, he relocated to Ft. Meade, FL to be closer to his family. During his Jr. High/High School tenure, Williamsâ served in the capacities of musician and musical director for the choirs of the Churches his grandfather pastured; Bethel Baptist Church and Beulah Baptist Church. Williams also studied Classical Piano with Boney Allen, Rebekah Haubry, and renowned Classical Pianist, Robert MacDonald. Excited about the opportunities to express his musical ability, Williams performed in Musical Productions of âMeet Me in St. Louisâ, â The Wizard of Ozâ, and âJoseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.â
Williams has already begun to prepare for the âBig Times.â His accomplishments include, performing in NYC for the legendary singing/songwriting duo, Ashford and Simpson. Williams also had the honor of composing a graduation song for Harrison Center for the Performing and Visual Arts in May 2004. Also, Williams is currently writing an opera which will address issues within the African American Community. Although this venture will be challenging, Williams is determined to strike success. Williams is now a student Florida State University's School of Music where he hopes to obtain a B.A in Jazz Studies and African American History. Williams, stage name, J.Landon, feels that his mission in life is to impact the lives of everyone through his life and music. His philosophy in life is to, â Never give up on your dreams, even if you are the only one who believes in them. You are the driving force behind every goal and aspiration for your life and when it seems that it is easier to give up, WORK HARDER.â
