To pull a piece of music out of the air, apply it to an instrument, derive from it a mood, a feeling or even a revelation, shape it with melody and progression and define it with words or just phrases and gradually build it into a complete musical composition is the greatest joy I know!
Itâs like an apparition, a whisper, a clue, a hint of a soundtrack to a dream. And if Iâm really lucky and paying attention I attempt to capture it to recording. If I donât, this fleeting gift will simply drift out of my consciousness as quietly as it came to me, back into space. When this occurs it is like losing something precious. So, I try to be aware and receptive to any little musical phrases or even thoughts so that I can attempt to unravel the mystery and promise that lies within and see what kind of treasure I have rescued or uncovered.
All of the songs on this, my debut album, â One Man, â were born of just such a magical, musical moment!
I am proud of â One Man â and I am grateful to the fine musicians and singers who helped me to make it the first collection of what will be many more songs to come. I hope you enjoy listening to my little gems as much as I did discovering them.
