Junction City started out as a teacher's band at the same high school that brought you Kurt Cobain of Nirvana (Aberdeen High School). In fact, Junction City's bass player was Cobain's high school art teacher and their drummer used to jam with Cobain in the late 80's. Junction City's first gig was actually playing a pep assembly at Aberdeen High School in 2004. Shortly thereafter they were writing original music, learning cover tunes, and playing at local venues around town. Junction City would play top 40 radio songs at the clubs and mix their originals in as much as possible. It did not take long for the band to see that their original music was being accepted as much as the popular radio songs they were covering. After playing live for 6 months, Junction City decided to head into the studio and record some of their original songs. They cut a 6 song demo title âIntersectionsâ in 3 days. After a year of playing more gigs and riding a wave of success, Junction City headed back into the studio to record their first full length album. This disc is very upbeat, full of catchy guitar riffs and lyrical hooks that the listener will hum long after the CD is turned off. Junction City has almost a "Roadhouse" type modern, country rock sound with an extremely powerful female lead vocalist. Junction City is currently playing out live and promoting their new CD. They enjoy playing at fairs and festivals, and have even played two shows at the best amphitheatre in the USA (The Gorge in George Washington) playing before the Black Crowes and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
