Details:
A combination of folky ballads and sweet soaring melodies, create a sense of easiness, with moving passion. Delivered with an energy and intensity, inspired by life, love, relationships and a journey into self-discovery.

"Intimate and soulful". Julie-Ann's live performances have been described as "engaging and mesmerizing", with a vocal warmth and sensuality always present. Julie-Ann's Voice/style/music have been compared to - Tori Amos, Jewel, Ricky Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, Chrissy Hind and Dido.

"My perception and grasp of life and reality is always spiritual and emotional. This is what I portray through all of my songs. I don't always set out to write this way, it just comes out like that, and then I give it some shape and form".

Along the way, inspiration has been sourced from many different areas, including her love and respect for singer/songwriters such as -
Ricky Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Jeff Buckley, Heather Nova...........and so many more that are all equally inspiring.

The past five years has been an important time of consolidating an individual songwriting and vocal style, which has been influenced by many musical ventures. Including her time with rollicking band - A Big Fat Country. Quite different, original and just damn good fun, with a tongue-in-cheek take on country music. In 1999, Julie-An was performing back-up vocals and supporting the band at each gig, with her solo act at the time - Green Butterfly. Around this time Julie-Ann's song "Prism", was chosen as the theme song for a local short film production.

Another important influence, was her time with the Intonations Choir. She performed a cappella, a diverse range of world music with performances and solos at the Basement.

"The next 2-3 years I spent writing and learning. Working on my voice, guitar and vocal technique. Basically I was discovering what is truly my own, drawing on my influences, and releasing and refining this".

In the past 18 months, Julie-Ann has been doing various solo performances, and has fairly recently been joined by "Willow" on electric guitar, giving the songs a new and different atmosphere.

Performances Include -The Pacific Hotel at Yamba, The Excelsior at Surry Hills, The Hopetoun, The Brittania Hotel, The Bat n Ball Hotel, The Carriageway Café at Bellingen, The Basement, Club Acoustica at Candy's Apartment and La Bar, Poptarts at The Empire Hotel, Annandale, The Charlton Bar at Manly Pacific Hotel - for ANBOPA(Association of Northern Beaches Original Performing Artists), The Sands Hotel at Narrabeen, Kangaroo Valley, and The Harp at Tempe.

Julie-Ann also performed under the ANBOPA banner, as part of ILLUMINATI, for the Manly Folk and Arts Festival. As well as The Arthur Boyd Arts Festival at Bundanon, in September last year.

At the moment, I am rehearsing with a rhythm section and looking forward to introducing my songs with a full band, adding yet another different dynamic to my music. We have been invited to play at the Northern Beaches Folk Festival in September at the Time and Tide Hotel at DeeWhy.

Julie-Ann is steadily building a fan-base. With some new songs in progress and plans to record an album early next year, she is making her way as an independent singer/songwriter.
