Poetry coupled with electronic music

20 MP3 Songs
SPOKEN WORD: Poetry, ELECTRONIC: Experimental

Details:
Jumbuktu is the name Bill Buttler (multi-instrumental guru) and Paul
Mitchell use when they team up to create spoken word/music fusions.

âAs if Nothing is Happening. And it isâ is their first CD and contains many tracks that have appeared on Going Down Swinging CDs for the past five years. Paulâs poignant words and dramatic delivery are wonderfully enhanced by Billâs electronic music: atmospheric, rhythmic and sometimes downright scary.

The CD received a great review in POAM, the Melbourne Poetsâ Union
newsletter:

âAt last, a poetry CD that you can listen to as you would a music CD...Mitchell uses his formidable reading skills â he knows when and how to hang a pause out there, so that the listener is thirsting for what comes next...Buttler's contribution to this album is immense...[He] employs music styles at times so familiar to us...they act as another image in the poem...The everyday world of these poems poses insurmountable problems, asks unanswerable questions. This is a CD for the times.â â Garth Madsen

Paul Mitchell lived in several small country towns before completing secondary school in Geelong. He now lives in Yarraville in Melbourneâs inner west, with his wife, Simone, and two children.

Paulâs work has appeared in numerous Australian journals, magazines and newspapers. It has also been broadcast on Triple R radio in Melbourne, and Sydneyâs The Red Room.

Paulâs currently studying for a Masters of Creative Arts (Creative Writing) at the University of Melbourne.
