Details:
Jim La Forte(58) has been a presence on the Kansas City music scene since 1961. He started out at age thirteen, singing at school dances and sock hops. By the time he was fifteen, he was working local night clubs. At 21 he hit the road, playing all over the U.S., as well as Canada and Mexico.
Jim has shared billing with jazz legend Kevin Mahogny, Bloodstone, Wayne Cochran and Albert King. He was also in one of the featured acts for the Grand Re-opening of Kansas Cityâs historic 18th and Vine District in 1999. Members of Jimâs bands have gone on to play with Bill Chase, Fleetwood Mac, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Al Stewart and Ray Manzarek of the Doors.
These days he again makes his home in K.C. Jim plays in several venues each week and several charties each year, including those for battered women and children and healthcare for the indigent. The Kansas City Blues Societyâs BLUES NEWS describes him as KCâs âPowerful Blues Shouter.â
