Details:
This CD is a collection of some of Jim Thompson's favorite tunes written by other artists that he played over a number of years going back to the year that he lived in a small one room cabin in Shelbyville Tennessee that was called "The Cosmic Cabin". (To hear some of Jim's own musical compositions see his CD on CDBaby called "The Grundy Flood of '77 written when he was lead singer for the Poetown Ramblers) The Cosmic Cabin had no electricity or water but it had a wood stove and plenty of music was played in there and time was spent with friends by the fire. This CD represents a vision that Jim Thompson had to play some tunes he has played for a long time acoustically in an electric presentation. The production, recording and mixing of this CD were done by a true talent, Mark Van Allen at his Music Farm Studios in Loganville, Georgia. Mark has played in a number of bands including Blueground Undergrass. Mark plays the electric lead guitar, acoustic guitar, dobro, mandolin, pedal steel, bass and baritone guitar on this CD. Jim Thompson does all the lead and harmony singing and plays electric rhythm and acoustic guitar. Jim is joined on one tune, Mr. Bojangles, by old friend Andy Cartoun of the New York City bluegrass group, Big Appleachia. Andy and Jim have played bluegrass together all the way back to the cabin days in the mid 1970s as the Coonskin Boys. Hope you enjoy this CD.
