eclectic guitar based rock with literate lyrics and strong songwritings
14 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, ROCK: Classic Rock
Details:
Jeff Kaa has been on the OC music scene since the spring of 1978 when he formed a band with Dennis Walsh (drums) and David Way (bass guitar) of The Flyboys.
In 1979 Jeff joined The Klan who were part of the early Huntington Beach punk movement.
In the post-punk atmosphere of the early Eighties he joined the Mnemonic Devices. Their distinctive live shows were powered by an intense ensemble sound. In 1983 the band released an EP entitled Playing On The Dark Keys.
After the break-up of MD Jeff formed Sextet with members of his brother's band The Crowd. Sextet played OC from 1984 to 1987. They released a self-titled EP in 1986.
Jeff continued to write and play through the Eighties and Nineties occasionally deputizing for The Crowd. The millennium found Jeff exploring epic electric guitar improvisations. The reaction to these extended works was a return to songwriting which in turn prompted the idea of a solo recording.
Que? Jeff's first CD under his own name has just been released. It contains rock music in a variety of styles, but all songs are highlighted by strong melodies, literate lyrics and above average guitar work.
Selected tracks include the driving rock of Don't Count On That, How Long? and With A Vengeance and the Surfopolitan sound of The Path, My River and When You Walk In.
