Details:
Listen to Jeremy Levâs new album, Rhythms From Another Summer, and youâll feel hard pressed to put together a concise description of his style of music. Between the 9 songs on the album, youâll hear musical conventions ranging from classical, pop, jazz, fusion, world, rock, hip hop, r&b, folk, and more. It just depends on which song you happen to be listening too. 7 of the 9 songs on Rhythms From Another Summer were written during the summers of 2003, 2004, and 2005. They each represent the development in Jeremyâs songwriting, which corresponds to the unique rhythms of Jeremyâs summer experiences.
---------------------------------------------------------------
It could be said that Jeremyâs broad musical influences have formed from non-musical experiences just as much as musical ones. In 2003 Jeremy attended Berklee College of Music for the summer. In 2005 and 2006, Jeremy spent almost a years worth of time living, studying and traveling in Europe. He spent a month in the Czech Republic and 9 months in southern France.
Through the language barrier of French music, Jeremy picked up on the value of melody. Not only must the lyrics be thoughtful and have an appealing vocal melody, but the sounds of the words themselves must work symbiotically with the music. The lyrics donât lead the music and the music doesnât lead the lyrics. They work together to progress the experience.
It were the moments of beautiful simplicity and intensity during Jeremyâs time in Europe, which focused him on creating music with an intriguing complexity, yet at the same time an accessible simplicity. This belief inspired Jeremy to write the songs Capucine, Nastravia, Her I Am, Waves, Iâm at Home, and Dunes of Bohemia.
Interesting both lyrically and musically, Rhythms From Another Summer will grab your interest right away and then require several repeat listens to hear all the nuances, emotions, and thoughts put into the songs.
Jeremy can be found playing in a full band setting or in his singer/songwriter persona.
He also enjoys composing instrumental pieces for movie soundtracks.
