Details:
All her life, Jennifer Evans has always found comfort in two things: God and music. A native Mississippian, Jennifer grew up in a strong Baptist church upbringing. But that religious upbringing didn't shield her from the hatred and dysfunction that so often destroys family bonds. "I had a lot of abuse in my family," Jennifer says. "Whenever something happened, I'd go in my room and sit in the corner and listen to music. It was there that I discovered my voice. I would sing until I could actually hear myself over the music." Those private music sessions in the face of fear gave Jennifer the courage to move forward. "Music is what brought me through." She said. With music as her guide, it wasn't long before Jennifer branched out and joined the secular scene. "The band was called Snapshot, " Jennifer says. "We would perform in all the talent shows, nightclubs and college homecoming. I was 12 years old. "

Regularly performing R&B and Jazz, Jennifer's music ambitions took her father away from her Gospel roots, or so it appeared. Jennifer embraced the club scene by holding captive audiences with her performances. The word was out. Jennifer Evans had an amazing voice. And crowds took notice. Whether singing lead or as a back up, Jennifer was enhancing every band that enlisted her services. Jennifer joined De'Nay, a local Triangle band that enjoyed overly moderate success with Evans displaying her considerable vocals talents as backup. But the club life soon took its toll on Jennifer. Tired of all games associated with the nightlife, Jennifer went back to the church. "I didn't want to do secular anymore. " She says. But after a bad spiritual experience in church, Jennifer turned away from singing altogether. As result, the songbird that once relied on music as a comfort lost her will to sing.

But music has a funny way of revealing one's life purpose. Jennifer might have spurned music, but music wasn't done with her. As fate would have it, the word chose Jennifer and she became musically inspired. And the songs flowed. The result is a CD that will stand the test of time among the Gospel greats. So while you haven't heard of Jennifer Evans, hold tight. You will. She's been delayed, but not denied.
