JESSE JAMES
Jesse James, affectionately know as J.J. to friends and close associates, has a unique soulful sound. Born in Louisiana, Jesseâs singing ability was ecognizable at an early age when he began singing, clapping and praising God along side his Mother in church.
While still a toddler, his family relocated to California. After literally singing his way through school he accepted his first professional singing engagement at The Makesmo, a poplar night club in Richmond, CA. That is where Jesseâs singing style and flavor earned him constant bookings and respect as a professional recording artist, composer and entertainer.
Working with the late great Hosea Wilson , who was the National Promotion Director for 20th Century Records, Jesse enjoyed success with his first major release ,âBelieve In Me Babyâ. Jesse quickly became a hot ticket and made believers out of a lot of critics. The hit âI Can Do Bad By Myselfâ launched a new chapter in Jesseâs career.
In 1988, Jesse signed with Barbara Thomas, President of Atl, GA based GunSmoke Records and released four CDâs. The first CD âI Can Do Bad By Myselfâ, sold over one million copies that included great hits such as ZZ Hillâs, âCheatin In The Next Roomâ, as well as âI Can Do Bad By Myself Remixâ. The versatility of his songs like âWhat Happen To The Dream", "Something To Believe In", and "Weâre Gonna Make Itâ.
The fourth CD entitled âIt Just Donât Feel The Sameâ really showcases Jesseâs versatility with soulful gospel and R & B sounds. Itâs no surprise that Jesse would pay tribute to his roots in the gospel song âThe First Day of My lifeâ. For Blues lovers he features Millie Jackson on the remix of. âIt Just Donât Feel The Same, At Last, Iâm Not Gonna Go Down, and Why Do You Have To Lie.â
Jesse James, is back the with his latest CD release, âItâs Not So Bad After Allâ.This CD is by far the best yet, such songs as âYour All In My Dreams, You Got To Play If You Wanna Play, Let Me Be Your Pacifier, Iâd Rather Eat Soup, When Are You Coming Home, Itâs Not So Bad After Allâ and a tribute to his late son âHigh Speed In The Ambulance.â Jesse continues to reinvent himself with his continuous drive and determination, proving that he does have staying power.
