What would you do if the village that you lived in was destroyed? How would you respond? Would you hold the people who destroyed your village accountable? And if so, how? How would you battle the intricacies of international politics and that of the totalitarian regime? Well, this is the question Seim Hu Mywandu has to answer. This is the obstacles he has to face, after all of his close friends and family have been killed by mysterious people. This book deals with the current human rights issues in Burma and with the regime that continues to destroy villages, kill innocent people, torture, arbitrarily arrest people, and continually violate the laws of the international community. Hengduan Mountains encompasses all of this and deals with the implications of these issues on all perspectives from individual to international. About the author: Roman Soiko was born in 1989 in Moscow, Russia and has lived in the United States since 1994. Over this time, he has become very well-versed in geography, politics and history, culminating in the winning of the state of New Jersey, National Geographic Bee in 2004. Also, he has profound political advocacy experience with issues such as Darfur, extraordinary rendition, and Zimbabwe. He has organized events, demonstrations, and flyers in support of these causes and others, with Amnesty International, Coalition for Peace Action and other organizations. Writing Hengduan Mountains is a culmination of these accomplishments and through this Magnum Opus, he attempts to envision what he sees are problems in Burma from all perspectives, human rights, environmental, sociopolitical, and economic, and offers his solutions through the next 100 years.
