ABOUT THE ALBUM "ESA"
Now Iâm gonna be honest, I donât know as much Spanish as I should or sometimes claim to, but when I was listening to these songs I was understanding!! And not only that, but itâs as if they were songs that I had written. It was like my diary, but in Spanish with music! Some of the songs sound like a hurt woman full of hate for the man who broke her heart like "Vas A Pagar," or "Mucha Mujer." Then there are the songs that are pure heartbreak songs like "Si Me Dejaras," "Prisionera de Tu Amor," and a playful little song called "De La Boca Para Afuera," which pretty much says âI know what you said, but you donât mean it so Iâm gonna stick around anyway.â Then those songs that are like pep talks to yourself, to just forget, be strong and move on like, "Corazon," "Olvidalo," and "Esa." Then just to complete the list of songs thereâs âCon Elâ which is pretty much giving some other girl the ok to put the movida on the ex, and "Como Le Digo," which is about âmeâ wanting to trade in âmy guyâ for his best friend.
Like I said, itâs all over the place, but thatâs how people are! No one can deny it and everyone goes through it at least once. I received these songs at a time when I was all over the place trying to understand what love was all about. Itâs like I wanted to hate not just the person who broke my heart, but the emotion itself. But those proved IMPOSSIBLE! âLove sucks, itâs stupid,â is what I told everyone, but I didnât think that at all!! I was just putting on a show so I could look tough. Thatâs what people do. The way I see it, if you are completely over something, itâs no longer a part of your life, you have no emotion for it. Hate is an emotion. I think itâs more of a cover-up word for a forbidden passion. So in a way, these are love songs! You always hate something you want, something you donât posses. I was trying my hardest to recover from this heartbreak and it was so easy for me to relate to these songs, therefore it was easy to sing them because itâs what I felt, I really think you can hear that connection when you listen to them. Itâs so cool to be so connected to these songs when I didnât even write them, cuz it makes me think âhow many other people can connect to them the way I did?â
This album is important, not only because itâs my first CD that I will introduce to the world and try to make it further with, but because these songs are mine! I hope you enjoy them!
Besos,
Jenna
