Description:

(ID 1085129)
Another gem from multi-instrumentalist Ian Pellow. An Instrumental Progressive Rock menu with some smooth sorbets before the main Alternative dish, played by just one man with the fretless bass as leading instrument.

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, ROCK: Instrumental Rock

Details:
Ian uses the same FRETLESS BASS he bought and was able to afford, because of a tax refund back in 1980. THANK YOU revenue Canada. The bass is a GUILD B301F. He uses Bartolini pick-ups.

Also in his arsenal is a DeArmond guitar, but he would like to get his hands on an old Telecaster (hint hint hint).

Keyboard and horns graciously provided by his old KORGM1. At the heart of his studio lies a BOSS BR1180 digital multi-track recorder. A great little machine.

Ian published his debut album "MARTI WHO? a little over a year ago. More of a Jazz, Fusion, Rock mixture.

FRUIT ALLURES, the NEW dish on the menu, is Rock... Progressive, Different, Instrumental.

Oh, did we mention INSTRUMENTAL? Yes, these songs were written to be instrumental 'only' - no song lines included. Obviously, for the more talented amongst you, feel free to add lyrics and let me know what the result it. It is always neat to hear new ideas!

For now we bid you, Bon Appetit!

THE MENU:

PASTA SELL BY DATE:
A syncopated straight Rock ditty at the start with driving guitar, leading to a pop funk second sector featuring the inevitable bass solo.

LETTUCE PREY:
Guitars, organ and horns having a ball.

FRUIT ALLURES:
The title track; a foray into ballad-land led to his, my personal favourite track. This song originated from a little 8 bar chord progression of guitar I heard somewhere. Double bass tracks at 2:30 and chunky guitar rhythm ala Terry Kath, left me a great part to solo over.

QUANTUM LEEK:
I liked the trip to ballad-land in Fruit Allures so much I decided to revisit it again, this time I took the car. Yes, the flute and sax are single note samples, but I like to think that I was able to imitate the natural intervals of each instrument and hope I didnât offend any sax or flute players in the process.

GIVE PIZZA CHANCE:
Old time Chicago-esque horn arrangements in my continuing homage to the great band of the 60âs + 70âs.

CELLO CON CARNE:
A fusion of light-classical and rock guitar. The only song with no bass guitar; my fingers were tired. It breaks the album up a little before driving a hard rock proceeding song calledâ¦

ENERGET EGG:
Written to be included in a promotional video for a mountain festival in Scotland. It came back with a note attached saying âsomething more modern and electronicâ. Did anybody dance ?

SALAD DAYS:
Started off as a bass part, then added the guitar. Love the part at 2:30, and one of my sonâs favourites. My, he has good taste.

(the) SHEEP SHAG TRUFFLE:
Another rock based tune, giving way to a moody jazz rock section at 2:30. Do I notice a pattern emerging?

FONDUE YOU:
Ballad-land again Iâm afraid. Time to give your ears a rest. Created originally from the rhythm guitar and grown, cultivated and cherished until it blossomed into this result.

SUMMER BRIES:
The first song written for this second album, and also the longest one.
A song which started like all the others. I have no idea what the song will sound like when I start it. It just progresses, one instrument on top of the previous. etc. etc. etc.

Enjoy!
