Details:
Id Guinness has performed and recorded with several Vancouver-area bands. His songs have received a fair bit of Canadian airplay - notably power pop band The Wet!'s versions of his songs 'Deborah' and 'It's All Up To You,' and 'Open Your Heart' - the title cut of a West Coast African famine relief benefit album, sung by a cast of many including kd lang. Id received a West Coast Music Award and an Oxfam Canada Award for his work on the project. As a solo artist, Id has contributed 'Picture Yourself' to the Vancouver anthology 'Eight on Eight' and released a six-song EP 'Beat the Heat.'
He has written themes for two Shaw TV productions and his music for the 16 volume 'SelfTalk' series by psychologist Lee Pulos was distributed world-wide by Time-Warner. Much of the past year has been spent writing and recording new material with musicians Ledenhed (www.ledenhed.com), Leslie Harris and Curtis DeBray (Lesismore - www.lesismoremusic.com), Heywood McMartin (Bloomsday, Kyle Stein)and Pat Steward (The Odds). The 13 song 'Cure For The Common Crush' will be released in late 2006.
Press Archives: Open Your Heart: ... a driving, emotional tune that hums along at a brisk, U2-like pace, with a strong rhythm and great melody... ... an anthem that stands on its own. - The Record Deborah / Its All Up To You (from The Wet! 4 song EP): "This is an excellent record, with four well-constructed songs enhanced by fine singing and playing...The best song is Deborah with its buildup to an emotional ending...This record deserves a LOT of airplay" - Fiona McQuarrie - The Vancouver Sun "... a very successful production... Deborah, already playlisted on some local stations, is a sixties-styled love song, as is my other favorite It's All Up To You. Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds would probably go all gooey over them." - Ellie ODay, The Georgia Straight "...consistently high quality four-track EP, highlighted by these two tracks, one a stirring rocker, the other a touching ballad. With these guys, the BC scene is sounding good these days." - Ken Barnes, The New York Rocker Beat the Heat: "Dig your groovy tunes ... SHOUTSQUEALHOLLERFROTHGUSH" - Discorder Magazine
