All bands must believe they have something new to offer otherwise what's the point? And with the reach of the internet, thousands are available with a mouse click. But what brings ide to the fore in the otherwise wash of musical mediocrity is the ability to translate the ideas rolling around in their heads to the actual performance of well-crafted original songs. So many others are simply copying what they like or rehashing what happened a couple of decades ago.
You can feel that Layne truly believes what he is singing about through intense, emotional vocals, or that guitar parts just don't come around like that very often when Landon delivers his soaring melodic lines. That Luis and Mark truly know how to create lines and patterns on bass and drums to anchor the song arrangements down with tight, surging rhythms.
And being that drummer Mark Niemiec is also a Grammy Nominated engineer (India.Ariâs Acoustic Soul), ide is able to amazingly hand-guide and oversee the entire process of song writing, arranging, recording, producing, mixing and delivering the final product in such a way it is evident their consistent offerings are a true labor of love.
Their origin begins with singer Layne Ihde moving to Nashville TN from Detroit MI in the latter part of the 90âs to start a rock band. After a few years with limited success he drafted his brother Landon, who by this time was becoming an amazing guitar player in his own right, to relocate as well; forming the core of what was to become ide. Recording their first demo, engineer and accomplished drummer Mark Niemiec(Portland ME) really felt a connection with the music and the brothers. And when their original drummer left to pursue other interests, he seamlessly slipped into the drumming duties while still helming all recording projects. Recently, Berklee-trained Luis Espaillat(FL), long-time friend and admirer of the band, accepted the newly vacated position on bass, after winding down a successful stint with Atlantic Recordsâ Hot Action Cop. With the line-up now firmly in place and the new record wrapped, ide is confidently ready to win over a throng of new fans.
Loosely fitting under the canopy of brit rock/indie pop with influences ranging from such A-listers as Coldplay, Keane, Radiohead, U2, The Killers, Oasis, Muse and others, do not dismiss ide as coattail riders. There is something new to be said and they are here to say it. And with the release of their first full length record apologies for spilling paint on Radiant Music; look for them to emerge on their own terms and take their rightful place in line. . .
