IAN MCLAGAN
A member of Small Faces, which became Faces when Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood joined the band, Ian âMacâ McLagan is a rockânâroll icon.
Mac co-wrote many Faces hits, including âCindy Incidentally,â âYouâre So Rude,â âBorstal Boysâ and âThree Button hand Me Down.â His distinctive Wurlitzer electric piano can be heard on the Faces âStay With Meâ and the Rolling Stonesâ smash âMiss You.â It was Macâs trademark B3 you heard on Small Facesâ âItchycoo Park,â Rod Stewartâs âMaggie Mayâ and âYou Wear It Wellâ among many others.
Aside from his brilliant work touring and recording with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, David Lindley, Paul Westerberg, John Hiatt, Taj Mahal, Billy Bragg and Patty Griffin, Mac has released five critically acclaimed solo albums, highlighting his career as a singer-songwriter and an artist in his own right: Troublemaker, Bump In The Night, Last Chance To Dance, Best Of British & Rise & Shine!
Macâs sixth and finest solo CD, Spiritual Boy - an appreciation of Ronnie Lane, features his fabulous Bump Band: âScrappyâ Jud Newcomb, Don Harvey and Mark Andes, and is a loving tribute to his old friend, and features songs written by one of the best-loved rockânârollers of our time. Spiritual Boy was released on April 1, 2006 to celebrate what would have been Ronnie Laneâs 60th birthday.
Mac was presented with the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding contribution to British music in 1996, and his outrageous autobiography, All The Rage is published by Pan/Macmillan. He produced the Faces four CD boxed set, Five guys walk into a bar... for Rhino Records, and was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame in 2004. He received a rare honor on April 6th, 2006, when it was proclaimed 'Ian 'Mac' McLagan Day' in Austin Texas.
