Members Josh Geiger and Casey Haliburton came together in the summer of 2005 to combine Josh's haunting lyrics and dark guitar parts and Casey's melodic bass lines in hopes to create emotion. What later was born out of this was an indie alt-rock band with influences such as Radiohead, Coldplay, John Frusciante, Elliott Smith, Modest Mouse, NIN, Autolux, RHCP, Pink Floyd, and Placebo.

After several months of writing and recording, these two members along with a friend drummer completed the debut cd "Hope." Two months later Hymn Six recruited Matt Reynolds on drums and they have been continuously writing, recording, and playing shows all over the state of Texas since.
