HOW THIS ALBUM CAME TO BE;

The night of February 19th, 2008, I sat on the plywood sub-floor of my living-room at about 2:30 in the morning and I cried out into the universe. I was in a really bad place and it doesn't matter anymore how/who got me there.
There are some of us who have had a moment where it's not a normal breakdown. This is the breakdown of all breakdowns, the adding up of circumstances, and you feel that cord from somewhere deep inside yourself snap. And something is permanently changed. Like a part of you has broken off...and you can never get it back.
I put a call out that night, into the universe, to that powers that be to feel my pain and realize I was at my end. As a stay-at-home Mom, I was out of money, exhausted by rejection, and broken in spirit by the lack of support.
I could no longer to go on in music and it felt as though I was dying right there on the floor with my husband and daughter sleeping only feet away in their beds.
Inside my body, it felt as though my heart was pounding a circle from through my chest, into my ears and head until it squeezed out of my face only to circle back into my chest with unbearable pressure over and over.
To have to give up music, it felt like my soul was ripping in half.
I asked for a sign.
And not some weenie lights flickering kind of sign. But a call you up on the telephone saying..."Do it!" kind of sign. I can remember speaking aloud and saying that nothing less than an absolutely clear sign would do as I was so confused. No sign at all, was as good as saying just quit.
Then on February 22nd, 2008 just three days later, I was granted a miracle.
Rob DePape telephoned me out of the blue - after years of being out of touch - to let me know if I'd ever like to record an album, he'd be happy to produce it for me.

I started recording this album on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008.

ABOUT THE ARTIST;

Born and raised in various towns and cities throughout Manitoba, Harmony Parent wrote and performed all the music featured on her debut album, Driven.
The album took only 25 hours to produce and Harmony recorded each song in just one to three takes.
These 11 songs are just a small sampling of what Harmony has to offer when it comes to her songwriting.
The album, Driven, was independently produced and completed in 2008.
She has since written dozens more songs and has many more catchy melodies that have yet to be developed into songs.

Having lived in over 2 dozen homes during her tumultuous childhood, Harmony experienced a youth that would typically lead most into a dark adulthood.

Horrific parental abuse.
An evil stepmother.
Abandonment.
Foster homes.
Winnipeg's North End.
Teenage pregnancy.

Many would use this as an excuse for not doing well in life. Not Harmony! She never fell into a life of crime or drug addiction like many of her foster siblings and the classmates she grew up with in Winnipeg's North End. She has always worked hard and has struggled her entire life to keep afloat. She was born with an unwavering determination and drive to do something important with her music, which is the reason she named her debut album "Driven."

Harmony has found a way to direct painful energy caused by her childhood into something that is positive, creative and beautiful ... her extraordinary music.
