Hott Link has a strong passion for the art of music. In a short period of time, he plans to become the next Texas artist to carry the underground, in the absence of Chamillionaire, Bun B, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, and other Texas
icons, by releasing his album "BALLA STATUS" late 2006.
Hott Link was born in Mississippi, but lived in
Arkansas until he was nine years old.
Afterwards he moved to Texas when his
parents divorced. During his younger days,
hip hop/rap music was not of Hott Link's
interest. R&B was the choice of music,
which explains his ability to produce
melodic and rememberable choruses. In
1999, Hott Link was introduced to screwed
music. He quotes, "At first I didn't like it. It
just sound like a bunch of rappers yellin'
and screamin'. But it grew on me and I
remember when I first heard Chamillion and
Paul Wall on them screwed cds. I then fell
in love with the music because they showed
another twist to it by being entertaining."
Afterwards in about late 2001, Hott Link
and his brother "Da Show" would start their
own record label, "FREAKLINK ENTERTAINMENT."
The tag team dou would go on to release local
mixtapes and freestyles until they felt they
were able to compete with the big guns underground.
The alias "HOTT LINK" explains the many
abilities of the young MC. When he's not
behind a microphone, he designs album art for
himself and other artists, creates websites, and
screw and chops cd's. All of those abilities
*link* together a very versatile character.
*Hott* simply means that he is on fire in the
rap game.
One of the more lyrical and entertaining Southern
artists has teamed up with the DJ Aaries, of the
Legion of Doom DJ's in Atlanta, and is checking in the game. Influenced by DJ Screw, hit making producer Crazy C, and other Texas legends, Hott Link won't fail.
