We have got to stop burning fuel. In southern Indiana, coal is king. And so is cancer. The song seeks to educate people about the coal plant in Jasper, IN and motivate them to insist on a better way to harness energy.

Details:
Jasper, Indiana has a small coal plant that the local authorities are planning on re-opening, possibly using bio-mass technology. This is the latest travesty in the energy game and it's happening across the country. The are millions of public dollars that give an incentive for communities to burn biomass. It doesn't take a whole lot of research to find out that these plants are every bit as dangerous to the environment and our health that coal has been.
The song, in an upbeat sort of way, asks us to acknowledge a basic fact: We Can't Breathe What We Burn.

lyrics:
We can't Breathe What We Burn
Chorus
We Canât Breathe What We Burn, no no no,
We Canât Breathe What We Burn,
For cryinâ out loud, when we gonna learn that
We Canât Breathe What We Burn.
1)KingCoal takes his shovel and he shovel up the ground,
Shovels up so much that thereâs nothing left around,
Then he drag his dragline another 20 miles,
And counts up all his money with his cancer-causing smiles.
2)Then he take the black rock and burn it in the air
Gets up in the wind and it goes everywhere,
Floats back down to earth and we breathe it in our lungs,
Poisons everybody, especially the young.
chorus
3)What comes out of removal goes into rivers and in streams,
Fills up with selenium from open coal bed seams.
This heavy metal kills the fish and gets in all our blood,
These horrifying waters filled with orange mud
4)The King, he gets impatient when heâs digging out his coal,
I think he thinks of everything and every kind of hole,
And now heâs got a quicker way of getting stuff to sell
Charges up the mountaintop and blows it all to hell.
chorus
5)Massey co. runs the Upper Big Branch Mine,
Said explosions got to happen there from every time to time,
Government (MSHA) geologist had no doubt they lied,Are they can cheat the families of the 29 who died?
6) The wrongest part of using this type of energy
Is sending men below the earth by those that are greedy,
They cut back on expenses and the safety of the mine,
And if that kills somebody, they only pay a fine.
Chorus-
7) The coal guys found a way to gasify their stuff,
Changes where the poisons go, I think weâve had enuf,
But donât you fall for propane , that fracking is the worst
The energy that we need is green and good for planet earth
8) Now itâs time to move our course, new ways of doing things,
Yes, Iâm talking solar, water, and the winds of change
Donât really have a choice , and weâve got to do it fast,
But if you wanna make the same mistakes, then start with biomass.
chorus
9) This song has gotta end and so does burning fuel,
We have the technical knowledge that we should start to use
I know weâll get it right and itâll happen we learn
That we canât breathe what we burn
chorus
