Crossing Over is Charlie's first album, written during this time of loss and transition.

Charlie Hartwell's music is dedicated to his love for the Divine, and is written and sung with a passion for his love of nature, people, and the divine energy which has been such a meaningful part of his life.

Charlie spent most of his career running companies, marketing products, starting non-profits. In 2005, his father died. It brought about a major transition in his life. He found a voice he didn't know existed and an ability to write songs that he didn't know he possessed.

This album is also a celebration of the people who have influenced Charlie's music. There are 23 musicians on the album - some full time professionals, and some who have never recorded before. Of particular note is the song I Will Go With My Father, sung by Charlie's daughter and accompanied by Charlie's father in law Jack Taylor (dobro), wife Robin and son Charlie (fiddle), and brother in law John Taylor (stand up bass).

The song Courage was written for and sung by Charlie at his father's funeral. Hopefully, it can be a blessing to anyone going through loss of a loved one.

Charlie's favorite track on this album is Religion.
