Details:
Every Now & Sometimes Then is the first full-length album by halfmanwonder. This 12-track compilation of dynamic, fun, danceable rock features the best songs and fantastic production from the New York based quintet. "Every Now & Sometimes Then" includes clever songs that are âready for radioâ such as the hooky âGuns In The Airâ, the introspective âLearning To Be Myselfâ, as well as rock favorites âSit Downâ, âWhen She Liesâ and the instant classic âWhat Does It Matter?â
The bed tracks for Every Now & Sometimes Then were recorded over nine days in Montauk, New York. âThis was one week of continuous work... and lotâs of ----â- [flatulentâs] and ping pongâ states John and David. âIt was great because the band was able to take advantage of being together 24-7 and capture the emotion in [what seemed like] one long continuous recording session.â The studio was assembled in a private residence by Robert Baione and engineer Will Sesak who also mixed the final product. Rob incorporated into the setup a prize recording console owned by halfmanwonder. The word prize can be taken literally because the console was part of a $30,000 equipment package won in the Mars Music National Music Contest. The winning song âBuildâ, at that time just a demo, has been re- recorded and is included in this new release.
The lineup of halfmanwonder begins with John Negron and David J who were friends in high school and currently share duties as lead singer. John Negron said in an interview âIâve always wanted to be in a band like the Beatles where all the members contribute...â David J follows up with â âWhat Does It Matter?â is a perfect example because it showcases what the band can do as a whole and everyone contributed to writing it.â Shortly after their pairing, the two singers hooked up with the talented and energetic lead guitarist Rob Baione. Jason Fenichel and bassist Frank Gagliardi have known each other since middle school and round out the band as the tight rhythm section heard on Every Now & Sometimes Then
Bearing in mind the public perception of music, halfmanwonder consciously writes songs that have their own life - individual personalities, but also contain a consistent theme... âWe write songs that people, young and old, can relate to.â âPeople continuously come up to us saying: âI listen to your songs over and over and, wow - this is how I feel.ââ The press agrees as The Inside Connection calls halfmanwonder an âalmost perpetually smiling quintetâ with ârazor sharp song writing skills, absolutely killer vocals and across-the-board ace musicianship...â The Island Ear writes: âThese guys have found more than a few good hooksâ and Newsday named halfmanwonder one of the âTop Long Island artists to watch in 2002 and beyond...â
halfmanwonderâs resume includes opening for major acts such as Dave Matthews Band and Sugar Ray. They also headline their own Summer Concert Series at the Jones Beach Bandstage and have performed at all the popular venues in the New York tri-state area and the Northeast U.S.A.
