Details:
DJ Hotday was born into the hip hop infused environment of Queensbrid- ge (Queens, New York). At that time, competition was not just over âThe Bridgeâ, but also down the street, in the building and even right next door. Although merely 1 square mile, Queen- sbridge has spawned many hip hop heavyweights including Marley Marl, Nas Mobb Deep and many others. Growing up, Hotday spent weekends in the summer at Queensbridge Park for the weekly DJ and MC battles. It was there that he honed his craft while being mentored by the legend- ary Orr Brothers. At just 13 years old, Hotday burned up the 1âs and 2âs for the first time in front of almost 1,000 screaming fans. Amazed by the talent and dexterity of such a young person, the crowdâs enthusiastic applause cemented Hotdayâs career path. As the years passed, Hotday continued to move crowds in park jams and DJ contests. Hotday was and continues to be firmly rooted in hip hop, but his undeniable talent extends well beyond that realm. While still just a teenager, Hotdayâs big break came when he produced the re- mix for New Editionâs âOnce in a Lifetime Grooveâ. The innovative and progressive style of the remix caught the attention of many industry insider s and Hotday found himself in great demand. Hotday went all over the country touring with Eric B. and Rakim to promote the now classic album, Let the Rhythm Hit Em.Having also prod- uced the original single âLet the Rhyt- hm Hit Emâ, the tour provided Hotday with invaluable experience both creatively and business wise. With a national tour under his belt, Hotday returned to New York with even greater confidence. He did sets at some of New Yorkâs hottest clubsâ¦Latin Quarters, Nells, Roxy , Exit , the Tunnel and many others.
