Here is a short, true story that will tell you more about my music than volumes of history and hype.


I'm 25 and when i am not on the road i live with my grandparents. . Iâm what you call a "winner" lol
They've been married 55 years and have pretty much raised me.

One Sunday morning i woke up, and although they both normally go to church, my grandpa was still home. As i stood at the counter and poured my bowl of cereal i asked him why he hadn't went.

He went on to tell me that he was done . . .

"Done with what?? church??"
"Not with church," he said, "with your grandma."

He wanted a divorce. I was shocked . . . they were perfect, my camelot. And now they were falling apart.

It was different than hearing about my parents wanting a divorce, they hated each other that news made sense; but my grandparents, I thought, were in love and had lasted, and would last, forever.

The event changed the way i looked at love and although they stayed together and are probably happier for it, the event made me see them differently, not better, not worse, just as more human.

It's that human-ness that i try to capture in my music and that kind of stirring of emotions that i hope to bring out in people through my music. I want them to see the world differently and question what they believe to be true . . .
