Description:
For ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE and fearless INTERMEDIATE players: a Quicktime video tutorial focusing on "Crossroads Blues." Adapted by Adam Gussow from Cream's live version (late 1960s) of the Robert Johnson classic. The 12-bar head in this lesson is an exact transcription of Gussow's performance on KICK AND STOMP, his debut solo CD. (You can purchase the entire album at the URL below. The individual cut can be purchased at iTunes and Amazon mp3s.)
This lesson is ideal for more advanced players who are looking to broaden their approach. It has a straight-time, rock-blues feel rather than a more traditional shuffle groove.
Technical challenges include lots of 1, 2, 3, and 4 draw bends, sometimes in rapid and unusual conbinations and some octave jumps (between holes 1 and 4 blow, for example, or 2 draw and 36 blow). No overblows! In order to solo over this groove, players will almost certainly want to develop some facility at rapid-fire 1/16th notes. Gussow not only takes you step by step through the head, all in slo-mo, but he shows you how to alternate sung verses with the fills that he uses in the original recording and he offers some ideas about soloing.
Harp key: D.
Note: a PDF tab of this song is also available for $2.

Good but missing all the high note great stuff which is mostly what I wanted. So for me this is not a high rating because of this.
