The Beginningâ¦
Contemporary Christian singer/song writer, Earl James, got his start early with singing, growing up in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Born of fundamentalists Christian parents, who believed that one should lift their voices up to God in song, strongly urged Earl to take part in their weekly worship by singing A Cappella each week during worship. Earl loved to sing and was recognized quite early for his soothing, soulful voice.
From hymnals to Pearl Jamâ¦
By the time Earl had become a teenager he had been the lead singer, in several local bands, both country and rock. In the early 1990âs Earl was a big part of the rock scene, performing weekly in Downtown Tampaâs famous Ybor City. With a large fan base and the life that went along with it, Earlâs popularity had truly peaked, when Earl made the life altering decision of saying, âNo More,â and traded in his position of Rock Star extraordinaire, for baby lotion and diapers. With his new marriage and birth of his first child, suddenly performing and gigs just did not seem important anymore.
The music insideâ¦
Although Earl had taken his rest from public performing, the music within him still needed a venue. A versatile musician, Earl played his guitars, saxophone, and keyboards constantly, while still singing everyday. He jammed regularly with famous South African Jazz Legend, Noel Kidwell, always looking for new ways to improve upon and expand his talents, while fulfilling his spiritual hunger.

In 2001, with the World Trade Center Tragedy, Earl had embarked on a deep introspective, spiritual journey. He found himself at the feet of Christ in His church, the ever universal, Catholic Church. Strongly influenced by the Late Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, Earlâs life had taken on new meaning, with his goal being that to serve, and inspire. Earl had fallen in love with the all encompassing love, and non-denominational teachings of the Church.
Divine Inspirationâ¦
Almost divinely inspired, words and music began to pour out of Earl in the form of songs. By fall of 2004, Earlâs family, fellow parishioners, and Earlâs dear friend Fr. Anand., had encouraged Earl to record his unique, inspiring music, so others too, would be able to hear and experience Earlâs soulful sounds.

Almost exactly one year later, it is with great joy, we now present to you, âNot Just Breaking Breadâ. The music and lyrics are a direct reflection of the enormously diverse, creativity and talents of Earl James.
