14 MP3 Songs
POP: with Live-band Production, FOLK: Folk Pop

Details:
This album shows a more pop side of the duo, in contrast to the folk bent of their Offspring CD. Rich arrangements include wonderful piano and guitar work, and some of the best instrumentalists from the Cedar Valley area.

Most of the songs on the disc were written by Eacret, and they showcase both his depth of feeling and societal criticism. For a political bent, check out the biting Into the Black (track 13), then for some self-criticism the Eacret-penned but Ledeboer-sung Only a Fool (track 12). For rueful rumination, try "If I Knew Then" (5), playful love song "Writing on the Wall" (track 14) or "Go Home Boy" (track 8). An uncharacteristically optimistic song, "Deep Down Deep"(track 3) almost reaches spiritual clarity. "Candlestick Park" (track 11) provides some nostalgia and "Fragile Creatures" (track 2) a commiseration. On "Alone Some Day" (track 6) Eacret sounds positively reconciled to fate, while "Break Down that Wall" relates a typically human struggle. Ledeboer's tunes, though few this time, are no less interesting. "Heartland" (track 4) showcases the singer's original narrative of Midwestern America, while "Another Wife" is a blues-based look back at former relationships.

A poppy maelstrom of instruments and emotions truly makes this CD an exemplary experience: original, unapologetic, this Midwest duo has put out pop music with bite.
