Ether Hour was formed way back in the day, where âway backâ means 2005 and âthe dayâ is sometime in April. It may have been May. Regardless, Jeff, who had been working on quite a few songs in his home-based studio, called upon Jake for some piano work. Jakeâs background ran predominantly in jazz combos and the blues/gospel tradition while Jeffâs style tended more towards the singer and songwriter genre. The respective lists of influences, and for that matter, iPod playlists were compared and found to be wildly divergent. The partnership was over before it had begunâ¦

and then they started playing. At that point it clicked - that âmagic momentâ that you read about in biographical sketches like this. Since that point, theyâve been doing a lot of listening and a lot of prodding, resulting in some creative and fulfilling music.

After working in the studio for some time and circulating demos throughout the internet, a live show band was assembled with the addition of two area musicians. Ted Powers and Andrew Rose bring a lot of live rock and jazz performance to the group and have been a perfect fit in chemistry and temperament.

Ether Hour recently released their debut album effort, âA Plan Designed At Homeâ, a self-produced romp through an eclectic mix of styles and influences. From the powerful rocking of âLeading Edgeâ to the acoustic sentimentality of âI Canât Breakâ, Ether Hour seeks for new directions to explore; building upon the impressive array of independent music made available in the digital age.
