Biography
EzraTheBand is a collaboration of Producer Darryl Swann (Macy Gray, "I Try" and "The ID") and lead singer (Soul Man) Rich Ezra. Rich Ezra is a 60's Motown type soul singer. His stories and melodies make up the core of what EzraTheBand is all about: a man trying to express love while being masculine at the same time. Rich Ezra walks a fine line of emtional abandonment and gentle tenderness in his performance style in much the same way his influences did in the 60's. Darryl Swann has developed a unique style of capturing a true retro feel blanketed with modern and current programed production. This, combined with the seasoned muscianship and the personality of the other band members: Todd, Shea, Smokey, and Luke, is what makes "EzraTheBand" a major contributor to the change that is happening in music today (The New Old school sound).

Front man of Ezra The Band, Rich Ezra grew up in Detroit Michigan under heavy musical influences. Rich credits his older brother who at the time ran a recording studio (soundtrack studios) this exposed him to the sounds of that era and only fuel his desire to become a song writter and artist.

Now in L.A Rich Ezra along with GRAMMY and Platinum Producer Darryl Swann(Macy Gray,Stevie Wonder,Rosey and countless other hit projects) have started developing Ezra The Band's unique sound that Rich calls "Bohemian Soul" The elements are Swann's trademark sound, Rich's vocal style along with four band members: Todd Lane Drums, Luke Miller Keys/Organ, Shea Welsh Guitar and Smokey on Bass..

Smokey: Grew up in Los Angeles CA. At the age of 9yrs wanted to play bass guitar being too small to play he played trumpet instead, learning big band,jazz,funk,soul etc.When he turned 14 he picked up the bass never looking back.Learning music has always been his passion & soul purpose, is to play music."PLAYING BOHEMIAN SOUL IS A MOVEMENT!!"

Rich: There are days I find myself listening to Sam Cooke and wondering to myself as I listen,"How could I have that much soul and emotion". God gave this man a voice that just sailed above the clouds and when it would land, it touched all people that were blessed to hear. He captured the human condition. My dream as a singer is to one day write and sing a song that brings the world together, if only for three minutes and thirty secounds.
