Details:
Being the lead singer of Endive, Iâm usually designated to be the band spokesperson, so here I am once again performing my duties as band rep in writing our bio. I could start by explaining how much music means to us, but I think that is evident in our music. I could give a detailed description of our musical backgroundsâ¦but the fact that John has been playing drums and Rob has been playing bass longer than Iâve been alive could make for a short novel. I could also wax poetic about the chemistry we have, and how the guitar melodies Doug writes are the music Iâve always heard in my mind, but could never express until I met him. All of that is true, but Iâll keep it short and stick to the background of the band itself.
Doug and John started playing in a band together about the time I was singing in high school musicals. I didnât come into the picture until a few years ago when the previous version of Endive decided to take a different direction with their music. John and I had collaborated on a few projects (it was actually a church band, but âproject collaborationâ sounds more chic). Iâm not sure what inspired John to ask me to become Endiveâs new lead singer, but here I am. Our debut album title, 33 Months, came from the fact that when we finished the CD, Iâd been in the band for 32 monthsâ¦33 Months just sounded better. Weâd been working on our own music since I joined the band, but it wasnât until Rob joined about a year ago that our songwriting really seemed complete.
You may not know everything about every musical endeavor weâve each pursued, but Endive isnât about what weâve done as individuals. Itâs about the music we create together.
