The Echo Jazz Trio has been electifying audiences in
Portland and beyond for over four years. Ross Seligman (guitar), Mike McDaniel(drums), and Will Amend (bass), who were already involved in such eclectic musical collectives as the symphonic outfit Echo Helstrom (www.echohelstrom.net), decided to get to their roots and form a jazz trio that would combine all of their musical loves.
Their live show is known for its sultry brand of unexpected and spontaneous music that jumps seamlessly from a modern take on a favorite standard to a monster arrangement of a Radiohead tune. This CD, their first musical offering on MAH Records, is packed with fresh arrangments and new vitality in traditional jazz.
Recorded all live in one take, they decided to do it like the old cats, before the digital revolution, to preserve the humanity in the music. The result is an authentic sound that feels like it's in the room with you... perfect for a Portland rainy day.
