Born and raised in the hometown of Rock Creek North Carolina, Evelyn began her singing career at the tender age of five. She first began showing her talents at Rock Creek A.M.E. Methodist Church. There she lead their youth choir and acquired the confidence needed to begin writing her own material. She knew that she had the talent to be successful with music when she won her school talent show and was later invited to the state talent show. As time past she began to sing for numerous churches' special anniversaries.
In the 70's Evelyn moved to Stamford CT to pursue a singing career. In Stamford she joined her older siblings to form a band known as the "Garner Combination". The band became a local favorite and performed in many local and regional venues. It was after a performance in Hackensack, New Jersey where she was approached by Kelly Isley and told she had what it takes to make it. She was ensured of her talents when she had a meeting with Atlantic Records' (Labearian Taylor) and was offered a songwriting contract.
In the 80's she returned back to her roots in North Carolina to raise her family. Evelyn up to present day has always been deeply involved in church and has decided to dedicate her talents to help in God's great work.
She is a powerful gospel singer, writer, and composer whom has performed on stage many times over.
Evelyn's roots in gospel run extremely deep. Today the family tradition lives on. Evelyn Garner Foxx ultimately ended up signing with Foxx Entertainment, to which she was sign by her son Chico Foxx. Her son says, "My mother music is inspired by The Almighty and I have to do my part in bringing the message to the people". We pray that the songs touch you the same as it has touched each and every one of us.
Then will God's will be done.
