Super cheerful in the French Canadian (Quebecois) tradition of driving foot-percussion and sweet melodies, with just a touch of the dark Irish for balance. Smooth harmonica, fantastic fiddle licks match and harmonize.
14 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Celtic, FOLK: Traditional Folk
Details:
Eric Schlorff has been playing harmonica since 1972. His first music love was the blues and swing. He later found his technique worked well with traditional fiddle music. He has been playing for contra dances in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle Washington since 1990 when he fell in love with Quebecois and Irish dance music. Eric also plays upright bass and button accordion on the lâOrage CD. Eric makes his home in Olympia, Washington.
Mike Schway is one of the most driving and sought after dance fiddlers on the Northwest contra dance scene. Mike has been playing traditional fiddle music since the early 1970s. In addition to Quebecois and Irish styles, he plays old-time, Cajun, and âbargrassâ (Mikeâs version of bluegrass played in sordid local pubs.) He is also a great guitar and button accordion player. Mike lives in Bellingham, Washington.
Clyde Curley is one of the best contra-dance and old-time backup guitar players and lead mandolin players in the Northwest. He is in demand from Eugene, OR. to Vancouver, BC. Clyde loves to play Quebecois, Irish and Old-time music. Clyde has several CDs to his name, including: his mandolin CD âthe Oxymoronsâ; Jig Saw: Cut up the Floor, and the Portland Selections No. 1 and No. 2. Clyde is a coauthor of the Portland Collection books of contra-dance tunes. Clyde lives in Bellingham, Washington.
