James Hawkins has been kicking around the Florida Folk scene for about 6 or 7 years. After hanging out at many campfire jams the other artist began to take notice. Since then James has had 7 songs recorded by 8 Florida artist.
This CD "Turn Back Time" is musical comentary of the Florida scene past and present. Along with the title track "Turn Back Time" songs like "Little Katie" and "Pilgrims" are reflections of the bygone days and the people who made the sacrifices when our country was young. "The Great Hippie Scare" is a humorous look at the year thousand's of long -haired, treehunggin' hippie's showed up at the Florida Folk festival. "Black Hat Troubadour" is a song pertaining to the father of Florida folk music Will McLean. "Valley of the Shadow" is a Dylanesque song describing the battle between the retirement community and the musicians of Sarasota Florida over a dreaded noise ordance.
This CD was written and recorded simply with only guitar, harmonica and voice. It was done in the spirit of Woody, Ramblin' Jack and Utah Phillips. Give it a listen!!!
