Singer-songwriter Kelly Greeneâs debut release You Leave Me Here shows great promise. With complicated problems leading the way to undeniably catchy solutions, sheâll hook you with her smooth pop-rock sound.

Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY, Kelly grew up playing piano and performing on stage, but it wasnât until her late teens that she actually opened her mouth to sing. Admitting herself that she always felt compelled to sing, she never actually knew what she was capable of until much later than most performers do. It was then that she realized she had a whole lot of catching up to do, so she grabbed a guitar and âfigured the thing out.â After a few pained years trying to find her music, trying so hard not to be something she wasnât, her side of Rock took roots and pop-sensibility kicked in.

With radio-worthy standouts such as the title track You Leave Me Here and Empty Handed, this album promises to make you want more. When asked who her influences are, Kelly just laughs and says that she doesnât want to insult anyone, but we can hear traces of her generationâs idols, like U2 and Sheryl Crow, and others the general music audience may have never heard of like Jonatha Brooke and Jeff Moore. Either way, there is something for everyone on this album, even if it is your guilty pleasure. You may or may not want to admit it, but this girl pops, rocks and wins you over even when you donât want to be.
