Details:
Shortly after forming in 2001, Spiff and Krisis spent two years writing and recording over fifty songs and performing at all thirteen of their countiesâ high schools as well as countless party and basement gigs. A few years later, armed with a socially and politically charged message, Spiff and Krisis moved up the local ranks to the larger clubs in their home state of Maryland. They have played clubs such as the Recher Theatre, Thunderdome, Sonar, Brass Monkey, and the Grange Hall a number of times to an audience of primarily punk rock and hip hop kids from the Baltimore area. All the while attracting an audience with their message, energetic live show complete with break dancing and freestyling, and constant on-stage humor.
In 2004 and 2005, Spiff and Krisis continued performing at the local venues and getting booked on college gigs in PA, NC, and MD. These gigs included UNC Chapel Hill, Elon University, Penn State, Duke University, and UMD College Park. During this time, Spiff and Krisis opened up for national acts such as Afroman and Wolfpac (Bloodhound Gang side project), and have shared the stage with smaller nationally touring acts such as 3-2 and Big WIll, I Voted for Kodos, Karmellaâs Game, Morning for the Masses, and ISM.
In April of 2006, Spiff and Krisis went on their first Tour of the East Coast. They traveled from North Carolina to Pennsylvania and back performing eleven shows in twenty five days. They spent the summer of 2006 performing at the local Baltimore clubs to record their DVD entitled âA Summer in Baltimoreâ and recording their first full length release together entitled âRevolution Evolution.â This summer was also spent forming a new live show and CD technique of ordering set lists in a way that causes the intensity level to continue rising throughout the set until Spiff and Krisis nearly explode on stage with âDiving,â concluding with âLeaf it Behindâ where random audience members come on stage to form an air instrument band to close the set out.
Revolution Evolution is a sequence of events in which Spiff and Krisis live out the evolution of the human desire for revolution. What begins as a revolution in music spreads to the revolution of society, and evolves into the revolution of the mind. This albumâs songs are what Spiff and Krisis call âProgressive Hip Hopâ in which typical rap beats are exchanged for pieces of music, and each song delivers a message at breakneck speed.
