Slawek Wierzcholski â the most popular bluesman in Poland. Harmonica virtuoso, singer and songwriter. The leader of NOCNA ZMIANA BLUESA (THE BLUES NIGHTSHIFT) , the band he established in 1982 and with whom he played hundreds of gigs in Poland and in several countries, such as Russia, France, Greece, the Nederlands, Sweden and even Zimbabwe. Slawek has recorded fifteen albums with this band and also under his own name. He's also appeared in numerous radio and TV shows. As a sideman, Slawek played harmonica on several CDs of Polish pop and rock artists. He has also gigged and recorded with such distinguished bluesmen as Charlie Musselwhite, Junior Wells and Louisiana Red. With THE BLUES NIGHTSHIFT he opened for The Blues Brothers Band (Nurnberg 1989) and B.B.King (Warsaw 1996). SÅawekâs harmonica can be heard on some movies and TV series soundtracks.
Slawek is the author of two harmonica instruction books, TV harmonica course and he teaches harmonica at the workshops in Poland and France.
He is also a radio DJ, leading his own shows at Polish Radio Programme 3 for twelve years.
Slawek , as the first bluesman from Poland played at The World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, Germany in 1997.
Slawek has been chosen No1 harmonica player, in Poland by the âBlues Topâ2004â voters.
Slawek is also a contributor to Poland's blues magazine "Twój blues".
His CD "Polski blues" got an enthusiastisc review in March 2000 issue of America's leading blues magazine "Blues Revue".
The Blues Nightshift is a tight band of acoustic amplified instruments. Not necceserily loud, they produce rock energy! They are also great showmen with a superb contact with the listeners. At their gigs they have as much fun as the public!
