In 1985 Willie Wilson purchased his first professional synthesizer. This was the beginning of Willieâs musical odyssey as a composer and instrumental jazz keyboard artist. He continued to study music composition and theory while staying current with the latest trends in synthesizer technology and recording. Willieâs mastery of synthesizers coupled with the revolution of digital music is profoundly heard throughout his music. âAs a musician, my goal is not to simply display talent, but to render to my audience a gift from my heartâ.
As if his love for keyboards was not enough, Willie discovered a new love â the saxophone. This love grew out of a desire on Willieâs part to complement his keyboard compositions and added another dimension to his music, thus, expanding his keyboard compositions and melody writing. His new cd âSon Shineâ reflects this sax/keyboard union. Willieâs soprano/alto sax solos run smoothly throughout this new release. This music is definitely a pleasure to hear. Willie's style of music will remind you of such smooth jazz artists as Kirk Whalum, Boney James and Ben Tankard.
